Every business, large or small, can benefit from the new horizons which open up to you with ORCA’s telecommunications access services.
How ORCA Fits In
The telecommunications landscape can be difficult to understand. At the immediate
local level, you probably have an existing relationship with an ISP (Internet Service Provider) for e-mail access and web hosting. ISPs are applications providers. Your ISP in turn connects you with a broader network of last-mile, middle-mile and longhaul/backhaul carriers. This hierarchy of telecommunications providers relay your communications to final destinations throughout the world.
ORCA fits into the puzzle not as an ISP, but as a last-mile and middle-mile provider. ORCA is a specialist in data aggregation and transport. We collect and distribute data from local sources and move that data to other local sources or to regional and global carriers.
Broadband services are available in Coos Bay and North Bend via the redundant path fiber optic network built and operated by ORCA. In order to maximize the service area, ORCA has established an interconnect agreement with Verizon Northwest. This agreement and the associated circuits purchased from Verizon enable ORCA to provide transport and internet access services from Reedsport south to Brookings Harbor and inland as far east as Powers.
